Our apprenticeship programmes are a great opportunity to kick-start a career in the construction industry. Apprentices work alongside experienced professionals on different projects and gain valuable work experience. As they develop and learn new skills they receive lots of support and encouragement and, best of all, are paid a good wage while attaining industry-recognised qualifications.
At Soundtex we’ve launched a new apprenticeship programme in conjunction with the CITB. The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Drylining is a 2-year course which teaches all the skills and knowledge needed to work in this area of the construction industry. As well as on-site work and training with Soundtex, apprentices are required to attend the National Construction College at Inchinnan.
At present we have seven apprentices working towards their Level 2 Construction Diploma in Drylining; three new apprentices began in summer 2014 and four new apprentices started in the summer of 2015.
Apprenticeship Case Study
Dominic applied for an apprenticeship with us after seeing the position advertised through Renfrewshire Employability Partnership. He had a successful interview, started as an apprentice on our Johnstone Town Hall site and began the CITB college in the summer of 2014.
When work finished on the Johnstone Town Hall project, Dominic went on to work on our Glasgow Queen Street office contract.
He’s currently continuing his training on our Viewforth High School contract in Fife and has just under one year to finish his apprenticeship. When his training is complete Dominic will have the opportunity to join the workforce full-time as a fixer.
I’m earning a good wage and I’m getting experience and qualifications while I’m doing it. I enjoy what I do and I like the fact I’m part of a bigger team. I’m always working in different places and learning new things, so it doesn’t get boring
Soundtex are a good company to work for and I’m glad I was chosen to take part in their apprenticeship programme. I’ve made the most of all the training and skills I’ve received and it feels good to know I’m investing in my future career.
